Week 2: Downtown




These pictures were staken on the steps of the old post office and federal court building in downtown New Haven. These are my featured 2 pictures because of all the shapes, lines and shadows seen in the pictures. If you enlarge the steps photo, you can see multip[le shadows cascading from the railings as well as the shadows from the trees.

The top one is excellent....good job!

The bottom one is too far away from what's interesting here... you should move in and concentrate on those shadows, steps and railings.... you are responsible for each element you show us in your photo.

I agree with Jerry's comments; the first image is great, and the second one needs a focal point but an excellent catch on the shadows. I would have never noticed them otherwise!

I especially like the tones in the pillar on the right. It might be interesting to do just a study on one of them sometime; like wait for the sun to be in basically this position, then go around the column, filling the frame with it, (maybe vertical shots...) and shooting it from different angles, letting the light fill it differently in each. Just a $0.2 thought :-)
